The saffron flower and rural Persian women have a deep and enduring relationship.

They are both sensitive and resilient at the same time. These amazing precious flowers grow in the shallow dry lands of Sothern Khorasan province.

Tough women, tough flowers from the regions of sun and cold dry weather.

Societies are greatly impacted by rural Women.

From handpicking the saffron flowers in the brisk early autumn mornings to sorting and packaging the final product, they are an essential part of the saffron production process.

But regrettably, women in these rural communities continue to be ignored because of the economic conditions and gender discrimination!

However, there is a severe water scarcity in rural areas,

which is driving people to the suburbs and large cities. In rural places, women and girls are typically in charge of fetching water!

We finally decided to launch a saffron brand with the three keywords of

Fair Trade, Sustainability, and Women Empowerment

after more than 10 years of working in the saffron industry. As a result of this, our special saffron package comes in a handcrafted pouch created by the same rural Persian ladies who hand-picked the saffron for you. You can keep the pouch forever as a genuine gift from Persia.

Since we are aware that there wouldn't be any saffron, life, or a future for our nation without these incredibly hard workers, we view Persian Rural Women as our primary stakeholders.

“ Niakan” means “Ancestors” in the Persian language. Saffron is one of the precious heritages left for us by our ancestors. Niakan is the third generation of a family business that started its mission at the heart of saffron cultivation worldwide more than 55 years ago.

Niakan is the untold story of the women who have the main role in the Persian saffron.
